The Utah State University
chapter of Delta Sigma Phi will host its annual Tight and Bright party at 10
p.m. on Saturday. The party will take place at the DSP fraternity house.
According to Kody Riker, the
public relations chair for DSP, the Tight and Bright party originated four
years ago. Riker also said parties at DSP attract as many as 300 people.
Riker said the party is a
great way for the fraternity to get involved with student life. All proceeds
from ticket sales will go to the American Red Cross, the fraternity’s national
philanthropic partner.
According to Riker, alcohol
is prohibited at the party in accordance with the university’s drinking policy.
Patrons who bring alcohol to DSP events will be asked to leave, Riker said.
“The guy that was asked to
leave last time broke one of our composite pictures, which costs us about $400
in repairs,” Riker said. “Another broke a urinal as he fell in the men's
bathroom, costing us another almost $1,000 in repairs.”
Tyler Gregerson, a member of
Delta Sigma Phi, said attendees don’t have to drink to have a fun time.
“If you are of age
to drink I feel you should be able to at an appropriate location,” Gregerson
said.
Music, rather than alcohol,
will be the draw for USU freshman Jasmine Lee.
“I am going to this party
because my good friend DJ Wayne Wonda is going to be working the music and I
love supporting him,” Lee said. “These frat boys know how to get a great DJ.”
